IPL SKIN REJUVENATION

Unlocking Radiant and Youthful Skin

IPL Skin Rejuvenation is great for sun damage, pigmentation (including freckles, sun and age spots), broken capillaries (telangiectasia), rosacea and redness, acne, acne scarring, collagen stimulation and general rejuvenation of skin.

It is a great treatment for prevention, ageing gracefully and achieving a smooth, clear, plump, even skin tone.

Before you book your IPL session, make sure you make a Skin Consultation appointment as your skin will need to be ‘prepped’ (prepared) and as everyone is different your very own slin plan will be prescribed.

Also, don’t have a tan on the areas to be treated – even a fake one – as that will mess with the machine’s ability to target the brown pigment. If you use Retin-A, you should stop it a week or two before your session to prevent extra sensitivity. And you will want to be ready to commit to using a quality SPF daily. Dermaviduals SPF 15 is not thick and greasy like most SPF / Sunscreens and you may actually fall in love with it! Even for an oily skin type this is loved by many!

Areas treated typically include the face, neck, chest (décolletage), back, shoulders and hands.

Sun protection is a MUST before, during and after any facial / hand treatments even on rainy, cloudy days and even if you are indoors..think radiation rays from computer screens.

You will start with a skin consultation, where pictures may be taken, which will show below the skins surface, the depth of pigmentation, the condition the skin is really in and is great for you to look back on to see the progress your skin has made.

Men and women and teens love the results of IPL skin rejuvenation.

Associated ‘down time’ with this treatment is usually very minimal, mostly only for the pigmentation removal and vascular / veins treatments. Depending on the pigment present and treated you may have “milo-ing” present…which is when we draw the pigmentation to the surface, where it will appear darker for approximately 7 – 14 days.

This darkness will self exfoliate off, you must not scrub / pick / peel but rather let it work itself off at its own pace. You can still carry on daily duties, using make up to cover any flushing if desired. There is no need to hide away. Once it has self exfoliated off the pigmented patches treated will then appear much lighter.

The results achieved are long-lasting, but individual results may vary due to differences in lifestyles, gene pool, skin care etc .

It is vital to always use sun screen year round, not just to protect from the sun, but to protect from DNA / skin cell damaging radiation from computer screens (that’s you who spends hours upon hours in front of a screen!) and other unseen sources.

Many clients like to have a treatment annually for the collagen stimulation effects. Winter is usually the best time for IPL Skin Rejuvenation when the Australian summer sun is less harsh.

However treatments can be done anytime, especially if treating acne.

IPL Skin Rejuvenation is known as a few different names: Intense Pulsed Light Rejuvenation, Photo Rejuvenation, Laser Rejuvenation, Photo-facial, Foto-facial and IPL Rejuvenation.

How IPL Treatment Works: In a nutshell, IPL treats the skin with quick and powerful flashes of light. The light energy then penetrates below the skin’s surface, where the unwanted brown pigment (melanin) lives. The heat breaks down this pigment into tiny particles, which either rise to the skin’s surface as scabs (naturally sloughing away within a week or so), or get carried away by the body’s lymphatic system. IPL uses light energy to target a certain colour in your skin.

Unlike lasers, an IPL device sends out more than one wavelength of pulsating light

Who Should Try IPL? IPL is perfect for younger – to middle age clients who are starting to see early pigmentation, minor wrinkling or uneven tone, but don’t want or need an intensive resurfacing treatment that requires time off work.

If you are unsure or nervous, it is worth making a Skin Consultation appointment to discuss your questions and get all the facts so you can be as informed as possible. Skin Consults are obligation-free so there is never any pressure to proceed to treatment unless you feel ready.

How does it work?

IPL uses light to absorb melanin (the dark pigment in your hair and skin) and haemoglobin (the red colour in your blood vessels). The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the blood, when treating vascular lesions, or the melanin when treating pigmented lesions damaging them. The body’s natural processes then remove the injured tissue giving the skin a more even and youthful appearance.
